Giving Back..

So i know this is my travel blog, but since I don't have any travels planned I thought that I would use it to post this!

Lately I have been convicted about the passage in Luke that talks about selling all you have and giving to the poor.
When I started this project, I thought that giving all my stuff away was what was going to make me less dependent on it, but looking back on Luke 12:22-34 it is not about the stuff at all. I worry day in and day out about things that I cannot control and have anxiety constantly because I don't think that I will get what I want out of life. God is showing me that He has better plans for me, and although I'm still in the beginning process of learning how to let go of my illusive control, I am learning to trust.

I am writing today to continue this project of getting rid of my "stuff" even though I'm not quite sure what the cause. I am overwhelmed with how much stuff I have accumulated over the years and want to "de-clutter" my life and be able to give back. Below are pictures of things that I am selling and going to use the profits to give back in some way. I am still unaware of where God is calling me to give (whether it be in time, money, or both) but am going to continue this project regardless.

If you would like any of the items please email me at katrina.d.thomas@biola.edu with a price. The money is going to be donated so I do not want to put prices on the items and have them not sell so email me and if it is reasonable and there are no higher offers then I will find a way of getting it to you.

Thank you for partnering with me as I am on this journey.

Survived First Full Day

SO I survived my first full day here in Indonesia

I actually like the city a lot more than I thought I would.
I haven't had too much interaction with locals (major language barrier) but I am enjoying the trip.

We are staying at the CMA (Christian Missionary Alliance) Guest House here in Jakarta and I'm sharing an air-conditioned room with two other girls

We got to meet a professor at a theological school today that we are going to be spending more time with tomorrow

We had dinner at the Wycliffe organization of Indonesia and got to hear about how God is using them here

It's amazing to see how many languages there are here and how many still need to be translated.

Got my first book report handout all typed out.

Prayers please: i have a presentation in the morning on Culture and Etiquette in Indonesia and then have about 4 more to work on before the trip is over :-/ they each require a 4 page single space hand-out so i'm a little stressed out because we don't get a lot of free time..i guess that's what nights are for!

Love ya guys!

made it!

After 15 1/2 hours of flying we made it to Hong Kong and got to go explore eating local fried rice and driving around on trams and trains up peaks

It was pretty beautiful in Hong Kong but very touristy. It reminded me of almost every other big city.

Another four and a half hour plane ride and we made it to Jakarta, Indonesia.

We are staying at a guest house until Sunday morning here and then will move on to our next destination.

I have a lot of work ahead of me so prayers greatly appreciated.

Love you guys and talk to you soon!!

PRayers appreciated!
